Dinafem Seeds

Dinafem are pioneers in cannabis seed preservation. After starting their company in 2002, they quickly realised that there had to be improvements to storing seeds in paper/metal foil envelopes, or solid plastic containers. Ultimately paper envelopes do not protect the seeds from crushing or from changes in humidity. And furthermore clear plastic containers do not prevent the damaging effect of light on the seeds, and without a proper seal will they can not guarantee a stable level of humidity.

Dinafem use packaging that prevents the seeds being crushed and damaged by light; an exterior metal container holds inside a clear plastic vial which itself contains the seeds. The vial is a standard laboratory vial normally used in the storage of samples of liquids, and has a cap that can be firmly sealed, making it ideal for the purpose of storing seeds.

Dinafem’s next improvements to seed preservation was with their micro-conservation systems, and the control of temperature and humidity.

Temperature is easily controlled with the use of refrigerators, which are usually used by both distributors and retailers to ensure seeds are kept fresh and viable.

Humidity control is equally important as temperature control but can be more difficult to regulate. It is likely to vary, often due to changes in temperature,

Dinafem keep all their seeds in a refrigerated environment whilst being stored prior to sale. This helps maintain a constant temperature. Within the packets Dinafem have implemented their micro-conservation system to manage humidity levels. A small amount of colour changing silica gel is added in with the seeds. Although the lids of the vials are well sealed and no moisture should enter or escape, the colour changing silica gel will show if any extra moisture has entered by turning from orange to blue as it absorbs it. No change to the orange colour of the gel should leave you confident that any seeds you buy from Dinafem have been professionally stored at the correct moisture level.
